If you don’t know it already, Paris is divided into 20 arrondissements named 1st to the 20th; think of them as districts! The bigger the district number, the further away it is from the center of Paris.

For example, the 1st arrondissement which is the Louvre neighborhood is considered to be the city hub while the 20th arrondissement is the furthest away, you may recognize it for being home to the famous Père-Lachaise Cemetery.

Arrondissements like the 7th, 8th, or even the 9th are sometimes confused to be central Paris which is true in a sense but not if you consider it geographically but they’re pretty near the center.

All these arrondissements come with something unique to offer to different types of travelers!

And while they’re many, not all of them are great to stay in because some are a bit far from the places you’ll want to visit or some don’t have easy access to other Parisian landmarks.

My main pick for budget travelers is this hotel and this one for a mid-range budget. If budget is not an issue, then you’ll love all the luxuries that come with this hotel. Even if it is a budget area, you will still find something on the lower end and something on the upper end even though there are still considered affordable. This is the cheapest (and highly-rated) hotel in this neighborhood, but if you want a bit more amenities, then this one will suit you but of course, your budget will go slightly higher. Where to stay in Paris for the first time + Near the Eiffel Tower: 7th Arrondissement (Eiffel Tower District)

The 7th arrondissement is truly a beautiful place to stay in Paris and I couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else. Located on the left bank of the Seine, choosing this neighborhood will put you in close proximity to the Eiffel Tower!

Besides the Eiffel Tower, this district is home to some of the other popular attractions like the Les Invalides which is the final resting place of the infamous Napoleon, Champs de Mars which is great for a picnic or cherry blossoms if you visit Paris in spring, Musée d’Orsay, a museum dedicated to Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art and lots of cafes and restaurants!

What makes this place even more ideal is that the metro is very well connected which means that you can easily access other attractions in a few minutes!

Pro of staying in the 7th: The fact that it is a few steps away from the Eiffel Tower makes it worthwhile! Nothing can compete with that in my opinion! You’ll also have access to parks like Champs de Mars and Trocadero.

Con of staying in the 7th: While the place is glamorous, it comes with a higher price tag and it can get a bit crowded! I mean, this is home to one of the most visited landmarks in Europe, so it’s not surprising.

Nothing too fancy about it but the great selling point is its location, closeness to the metro, and the availability of breakfast! At this price, this is honestly the best place to stay in Paris for first-time travelers on a budget.

Hôtel Le Beaugency

Another budget hotel in the neighborhood is Hôtel Le Beaugency. Located just 5 minutes from the iron lady, this hotel offers colorful rooms with minimal amenities that are enough to make your stay comfortable.

Being a student area means that it tends to be relatively cheaper but this doesn’t imply that there is nothing else to enjoy in the area.

You can find popular attractions like the Panthéon, Jardin des Plantes, Musée de Cluny, various cinemas, and Square René-Viviani which houses the oldest tree in the city.

Jardin du Luxembourg is also close by in the neighboring 6th arrondissement if you want to enjoy a Parisian picnic.

There is literally anything you can think of in the 5th arrondissement and you can enjoy all this on a budget, at least compared to other parts of Paris.
